While quail is the primary game sought at Six Runs, there are abundant populations of wild turkeys and deer. Ringneck Pheasant and Chukar Partridge are also available for the hunter's pleasure. Beavers living on Six Runs River have formed a number of impoundments that offer haven to wild wood and mallard ducks. There are several permanent deer stands positioned throughout the woods on the plantation offering the aspiring deer hunter the chance at a trophy buck.

Come float the rivers on which our forefathers marketed naval products of pitch and turpentine rendered from Longleaf pines. Rice, corn, cotton, and tobacco were also floated down Six Runs River to Lisbon and Clear Run where they were put aboard ships sent by the King of England to the colonies. This historic river system was an important commercial trading route which provided access to British and colonial steamships using the Cape Fear River and its tributaries to come inland as far as Clear Run.
View the creek banks of former Indian lands and rice plantations, given in 10,000 acre tracts by the King of England to the Petersons. Along these banks, Lord Clinton established the town of Lisbon, which had more than 200 buildings, in its early days. Due to the swampy environment and habitual flooding, Lisbon was moved about 20 miles north and renamed Clinton after Lord Clinton, Lord Proprietor.
Six Runs Planation is located in the heart of this historically rich area. Its land sits partially in two townships - Lisbon and Taylor's Bridge.  Six Runs River was vital to plantation owners who used small rafts to float barrels of rice, corn, cotton and naval stores from the historic entry point of Tar Landing, located on the plantation proper, to nearby Clear Run on Black River. From there, these products were loaded onto steamships and transported up and down the East Coast and also to England.
In 1999, Six Runs Adventures was established as an educational and recreational river adventure. Canoes, kayaks, and small boats float leisurely down Six Runs and Black Rivers. Professional and self-guided trips are offered for your enjoyment. You have a standing invitation to join us for our river adventures. Group discounts are available.
